It went so well! All the adapted questions/prompts were easy for [the student] to understand and the pictures helped, too. I did not have to explain anything to her.”

Hannah Liou grew up in rural Oregon, where she faced a unique educational journey - not receiving formal schooling until the age of 12. This experience, along with her dyslexia and ADHD diagnoses, ignited an unwavering commitment to education. Graduating with a B.A. in humanities and global education from New York University Shanghai, Hannah went on to teach in elementary public schools in New York City, followed by a transformative experience as a Fulbright English teacher in Malaysia.

Driven by a desire to make a broader impact, Hannah pursued an M.A. in International and Comparative Education from Stanford University. Her studies led her to the Stanford Rural Education Action Program, where she conducted research on early childhood development and education in rural China, after which she transitioned to a fundraising role at Stanford, applying her research experience to further support educational initiatives.

Hannah's profound belief in meeting every student where they are has driven her to co-found Ladder—an endeavor that embodies her passion for creating inclusive and accessible educational opportunities for all.

Nancy Wang grew up in Beijing, China and moved to the United States by herself at the age of 13 to pursue a better education. Despite being in the top of her class in China and attending a well-resourced high school in the States, Nancy was held back in her studies due to language and cultural barriers. Ever since then, she has been fighting for individuals with different learning needs and backgrounds.

Nancy served as the Director of Development for Supplies for Dreams, a nonprofit that provides underprivileged CPS students with resources and extracurricular activities while getting her B.A. at Northwestern University. She also served on the board of her high school and a few other nonprofits in Chicago to increase equity in learning. During her time at Mckinsey & Company, she led a global effort called "Way We Work" to reshape the company's work culture to be more transparent and inclusive.

"Everyone deserves to learn in their own way." Nancy is excited to use what she learned from her Stanford MBA and Master in Education to make accessible and individualized education a reality.
